Habitat for Humanity Build in Iowa

I love speaking. I love shooting. I love serving. When I can do all three at the same event, that’s a dream come true.

And the Iowa Credit Union League made that happen.

ICUL has been very good to me. I was both a breakout session speaker at their Annual Conference and a mentor to the group of Emerging Leaders who were “Crashing” the convention in 2014. In 2015, they invited me back to serve as the opening keynoter while helping out with the Emerging Leaders once again.

I owe many of those opportunities to the support and faith of my dear friend Andrea Dose.

In 2015, Andrea decided to try something different for these Crashers – have them volunteer at a Habitat for Humanity home building site the day before the official conference festivities kicked off.

Since I’m the least-handy person on the planet, they entrusted me with documenting the day rather than building anything of consequence during it. This was a smart move on their part.

And they worked their butts off:

It was a magnificent idea that helped them bond as a group and do meaningful work that will bless others for decades to come.
